Former Member of the European Parliament (1989-2004) (UDF - EPP), he was the President of the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, he was a member of the Commitees for International Trade and for Constitutional Affairs.
He is a Member of Notre Europe's Board of directors.
