This conference is organized by the French Presidency of the EU, in association with the Committee of the Regions, the European Commission and the Association of the French Regions, to debate "territorial cohesion" and the future of the EU Cohesion Policy after 2013.
Following up the debate on the future of the Cohesion Policy launched by the publication of the 4th Cohesion Report and the Commission's Green Paper on territorial cohesion, this event will allow a wide-ranging exchange of views between regions, metropolitan areas and actors of civil society.
A first session will be dedicated to the territorial dimension in major EU policies and their contribution to territorial cohesion. Thus the following policies will be studied in three workshops:
- The Common Agricultural Policy and Rural Development
- The Sustainable Development (climate change)
- The Lisbon Process
A fourth workshop will address
- Integrated territorial development and governance.
A second session, with a political roundtable, will address territorial cohesion and the future of Cohesion policy as an instrument to face new challenges in a global world.
