This Declaration was adopted during the conférence organised by the EESC and Notre Europe on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Community Charter for Fundamental Social Rights for Workers on November 30th, 2009.

 

For a better controlled globalisation process;

So that the citizens of the European Union may regain confidence in the European project; Learning from the current financial, economic and social crisis;

We call upon the European Commission to propose a Social Action Programme which guarantees that fundamental social rights are treated on an equal footing with the rules on competition and economic freedom. We call upon the European Parliament and the Council to adopt this Social Action Programme.

Civil society at local, regional, national and European level is invited to sign this declaration.
