In an article in the Financial Times, Notre Europe honorary president Pascal Lamy says that the need for Europe is greater than ever.

"In many parts of this world, regions are looking at Europe to continue to provide a firmly anchored model for open values, a testing ground for developing new democratic solutions to face today's global challenges."

Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, was European commissioner for commerce between 1999 and 2004. He had previously been Directeur de Cabinet to commision president Jacques Delors between 1985 and 1994. He is President of Honour of the association Notre Europe (where he succeeded Jacques Delors).
