The European Steering Committee of Notre Europe chaired by Jacques Delors, met on 7th and 8th November in Paris. Present were Notre Europe's president, Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, its honorary president, Pascal Lamy, and numerous other European personalities. The members of the Committee debated themes fundamental to the future of the EU. These included the Georgian crisis and security, the financial crisis and economic governance, democracy and the Lisbon Treaty, energy and climate, and the European budget.In particular, they particularly dwelt into such issues as EU economic governance, the European elections of 2009 and the functioning and position of each European institution, the future development of common policies in view of the important debate on the EU long term financial perspectives. They expressed their general agreement to the text entitled "The European Union's Acid Test"� signed by Mr Padoa-Schioppa.
